The Bicentenary of the birth of The Bab

The Bab was the young Persian martyr herald of the Baha’i Faith and this Holy Day in his remembrance was celebrated worldwide on Monday 28th October 2019. The Baha'is in Dorset held a celebratory gathering of family and friends at the Branksome Dene room in Poole. The evening proved to be bitingly cold, but the warmth of the welcome, the food and the spirit of those gathered quickly warmed the event. A short welcoming address followed by the viewing of a film specially produced for the event entertained all those present. Whenever a Manifestation of God appears in the world, a person whose teachings will come to shape human thought and action for centuries thereafter — at such a dramatic and seismic moment, what should we expect? The specially commissioned film “Dawn of the Light” from The Universal House of Justice is designed to celebrate this momentous event; that of a new Faith being brought to the attention of a sleeping world.

The Bicentenary of the birth of Baha’u’llah

This Holy Day was celebrated worldwide on 22nd November 2017. The Baha'is in Dorset held a celebratory tea at The Haven Hotel at Sandbanks in Poole. It began with a welcome and introductory talk by Rob Lawton, the chair of the Poole Local Spiritual Assembly and a short video looking at the world through the eyes of children and young people. The afternoon continued with a delightful cream tea enjoyed by over 50 Baha'is and friends accompanied by a ukulele jam session from Rob and Sharon. A feature film (51mins) "Light to the World" commissioned by the Universal House of Justice is aimed at illustrating solutions to common issues that beset communities throughout the world. It can be streamed from the link opposite. A short booklet of prayers and readings (pdf) to accompany the event is available for download here.
