Welcome

The nature of the world’s major religions

From time immemorial God has sent divine educators to man, Bahá'ís call these educators "Manifestations of God". Their teachings foster an ever advancing civilisation. Adam, Abraham, Moses, Krishna, Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, and now Baha'u'llah are some of these Manifestations of God. Baha'u'llah tells us that their teachings all emanate from One God, and that their teachings are like separate chapters in the “greater book of God”, Bahá'ís thus accept the divinity of all the previous revelations. Bahá'ís believe that the world urgently needs to find a unifying source that will bring the diverse peoples of the world together and at the same time offer a purpose to their lives through spiritual enlightenment. The writings of The Bahá’í Faith offer us both a vision of how this may be achieved, and practical solutions in the way we live our lives. We invite you to investigate this vision for yourselves.

What Baháí’s believe

The teachings of the Bahá’í Faith inspire individuals in thousands of locations around the world to improve their own lives and contribute to the improvement of their communities. They come from many religious traditions or none but all try to follow core Bahá’í principles such as: The purpose of life is to know and worship God and to acquire virtues All humanity is one family All prejudice – racial, religious, national or economic – is destructive and must be overcome Women and men are equal Our economic problems are linked to spiritual problems All work carried out in the spirit of service is a form of worship The family and its unity are very important There is only one God All major religions come from one God World peace is the crying need of our time By our actions we should seek to promote an ever advancing civilisation All should seek independent investigation of the truth The link opposite opens the film “Glimpses” commissioned by the Universal House of Justice. The film takes a look at the activities of the global community of the Faith of Bahá’u’lláh over the period of 100 years from 1921, as it strives to build a world based on the principles set out above.
